They say all good things must come to an end… And every year it seems summer comes to an end too soon. This summer was a good one for MHB and we’re a little sad to see it winding down. So just in time for back-to-school, here is an essay called “How I Spent My Summer Vacation”, a quick look back over the summer, and some things we are looking forward to this fall and into 2024.
Though it was still technically springtime, we got a running start at the summer by playing at Lost Planet Brewing in May. It was our first time there, and they opened up the firehouse doors for us, to let the breeze flow in, and our music flow out into the neighborhood. What a cool venue!
Then we kicked off summer properly with Sherene’s Birthday Bash at the Bridgeport Ribhouse. What a party that was! The good people at The Ribby took care of every detail to make Sherene’s big birthday one she would never forget. We loooove the Ribby and were glad to be a part of Sherene’s big day!
Speaking of parties, we finished June off with a dance party at the Buck Hotel. We loved playing for their very enthusiastic and dance-ready patrons. Vic, the DJ, warmed up the crowd for us, then we kept the floor packed all night long! Everything about The Buck is geared for a fun evening. Brian and the folks there really know how to throw a party, and do it every Friday and Saturday night!
In July we had another great night at the Great Barn Taphouse. This is one of the best music venues in the Doylestown area – the food, beer selection, and staff are all top notch, and they have a huuuuge stage and dance floor. We had so much fun performing and interacting with the patrons and staff!
In August, we were disappointed to have our gig at The Stables canceled, but we definitely got our “giddy-up” back on at Imprint Beer Co‘s 5ifth Anniversary party last week. We played to a packed – and I mean packed – house, which just shows how loved Imprint are by their community. They’re good people and deserve to celebrate all the successes they’ve had over the last 5 years. It was also a fitting return to our roots, as we played our first “real” gig there. If you haven’t checked out Imprint’s awesome beers and low key, cool vibe brewhouse, you should.
Looking forward…
We still have a few more shows scheduled this fall:
We are excited to return to Lost Planet next Friday, Sep 8, from 7 to 10 pm. As mentioned Lost Planet is a really cool space, with super-nice people running the show there.
Then on Saturday Oct 7, we return to the Ambler Main Street Oktoberfest (time TBD). If you ask me, this is one of the best street fairs of the year, with all the cool restaurants and shops of Ambler opening their doors, and live music all day long!
We have a few dates booked for 2024 already, including The Ribby in Feb, and more in the works, so stay tuned to this space!
Like the summer, it’s time to bring this longer-than-usual post to an end. Just wanted to say thank you to all of the great venues we were lucky enough to play this summer… And of course, big thank yous to all the folks who came out to see us! You have no idea how much we enjoy playing music for you all!
Luv, MHB
